Sunday morning session is for Continuing Ed and Certification students only.
For certified yoga teachers. This signature course will provide supplemental, specialized training in gentle yoga to support functional movement, a gentle approach to asana, and the science of aging which you can then teach to your own students. Learn to teach in a way that creates maximum value for every level of practitioner. Move away from absolute ideas of how something should look and find creative ways to explore and recreate the purpose and function of the pose without restraints or rigidity. This training is accessible and valuable for EVERYBODY.
Fulfills 40 hours YogaMotion’s RYS300 Certification and Continuing Education.
For yoga students. No yoga experience necessary. In this Gentle Training you will learn to experience the body as it is in the present moment. Form follows function, the function of the asana is elevated above the visual form. Breath is the foundation of the practice. Felt sense is a primary focus. With all of these elements in place your yoga practice becomes a moving meditation, harmonizing body, breath, mind and senses.This course will provide you with the tools to create a personalized yoga practice that meets your individual needs and interests.

One in five Americans is over the age of 40. Many are living with pain and physical limitations that can be lessened or alleviated with the simple tools of yoga. Though many are interested in starting a yoga practice, they have no idea where to begin and do not feel comfortable in the typical Vinyasa flow classes so prevalent in studios and gyms, nor should they.
Our society needs more Yoga Teachers who are willing and capable of addressing individual needs within a more gentle yoga practice that meets the physical abilities of these aging baby boomers. I’m one of them and the results I have witnessed in myself and my students are worth repeating.
With a common desire to be healthy and fit for life, yet battling habits that decrease well-being due to postural, emotional, and mental stress, this demographic creates a huge opportunity for you, as a teacher and student, to experience the healing powers of Yoga with excellent results.

You will learn physical tools and specific practices to:
- Build muscle and bone strength
- Improve flexibility and range of motion
- Bolster balance and agility

- Prevent and/or lesson the limitations of osteoporosis, hip fracture, joint replacement, chronic pain, and more
In Gentle Yoga classes, you take the time to feel your body move.
You will learn mental/emotional tools and specific practices to:
- Diminish stress and insomnia
- Stimulate brain plasticity
- Increase self-esteem
- Calm emotional turmoil
- Reframe belief system
- Sustain enjoyment of life
Gentle Yoga is engaging for the mind especially when combined with an instructor who encourages the student to pay attention to the different sensations in the body. Stress levels decrease and the mind becomes calm.
It is not about stopping or reversing the process of aging. It is not about being passive.
It is about building and maintaining strength, flexibility and peace of mind.
It is about enjoying a longer health span of independence and equanimity.
Specializing in my own form of Gentle Yoga over the past 20 years and witnessing the profound effects in my students, I am now expanding my offerings to more deeply embrace the practices that support our aging cycle. It’s fascinating the effects we can have on our health and well-being when we apply the simplest of consistent attention.
The signs of aging are an honorable gift. They are a wake-up call to the choices we must make regarding our quality of life. Do you want to age gracefully while appreciating the wisdom, patience, and honesty that comes with it? Then let’s take care of ourselves daily. The Yogic practices of moving our bodies respectfully and our breath mindfully support our relationship with this precious human life. Yoga offers us the tools to embrace our fullest potential and turn any physical limitations into lessons for the spirit.
Each 4 hour session includes an educational lecture and discussion, related posture demonstration and assessment, a short break plus a 90-minute yoga practice.Teachers will also fulfill a practicum exam at the end of this training.
